We start with a walk (30 min) until we reach the observation area of the Macarenia Clavijera plant, where we have our first contact with Caño Cristales. This circular route passes through different sceneries, including waterfalls, colored “carpets” and natural pools where the red color of the aquatic plants predominates in their tones. We will also be astonished at the rock formations of the terrain through the circuits.

We start a walking tour with the first stop at visiting cave paintings until we find a viewpoint over the Guayabero River, the Serranía de La Macarena and the savannah landscape. Continuing the path, we will arrive at Caño Cristalitos, which is the mouth of Caño Cristales. Here we can observe the Macarenia Clavijera plant which is the protagonist of the tour. We will contin- ue along the path until we reach the banks of the Guayabero River again to take the boat back to the city center.

When the level of the wa- ters of the river drops, the Raudal is visible, a strait of rock formation with a length of 3 kilometers and walls about 30 meters high. You will enjoy a majestic spec- tacle of stone slabs which ends in a gigantic rock with different sculpted figures: the petroglyphs.

Ciudad de Piedra

We will start with a gentle walk uphill for about 200m passing through different landscapes, gallery of forests and savannah. We will arrive at “Ciudad de Piedra”, a historical site of very old rocks about 10 to 15 meters high connected to the geological formation of the Guiana Plateau. On the way we will find a small place with Macarenia Clavijera plants (the same as Caño Cristales) where we will take a break to refresh ourselves and enjoy the water.

Laguna del Silencio

We will start in the village of La Ca- chivera and from there we continue on horseback through a savannah landscape for about 2 kilometers until we reach the Laguna del Silencio. There we will start a tour of the lagoon in small canoes without motor, paddling and enjoying the fauna and flora of the place. We will arrive at one of the tourist farms in the village where we will enjoy a delicious lunch and take a rest in hammocks.
